Gabe A’tugwewinu Calderón BSW/MSW (they/them & iel/eux) is two spirit, queer and transmasculine non-binary, mixed white settler and L’nu & Anishinabe Indigenous ancestry, visibly disAbled, chronically ill and neurodivergent, currently living in Treaty 6 territory's Amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) as an author, poet, mixed media artist, activist and educator. With a foundation in social work, Gabe specializes in decolonial approaches, harm reduction, disability justice and queer/trans best practices. Over the past three years, Gabe has worked as a consultant, researcher, policy analyst, advisory working groups facilitator, educator and nurtured excellent relationships with Benevity, over a dozen universities and colleges, Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH), Telefilm Canada, cSPACE, Fierté Canada Pride, the Enchanté Network, the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, the Edmonton 2 Spirit Society and Pride at Work Canada. Gabe single handedly launched their organization, Mokinan Consulting, with over 12 years of workshop education experience and consulting, which strives to empower, decolonize and educate. Pilar Roqueni Calderon (they/them) is two spirit, Meztizx, Mayan and Mexica, mixed French and Spanish. Born and raised in Mexico-Tenochtitlan, known as Mexico City, Pilar currently lives in amiskwacîwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ) and works as a family therapist with youth in an addictions treatment centre. With a background in social work (MSW, RSW), specializing in attachment and Indigenous ways of healing, Pilar incorporates decolonization in all aspects of their work life, bringing their culture and teachings as tools within their bundle to empower their clients. They have 8 years of experience in mental health, specifically serving Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island. Pilar also has over 6 years experience teaching in colleges and universities, most recently, Associate Professor at Canadore College for the Indigenous Social Service Worker Program, specializing in Traditional Indigenous Healing for Addictions and Mental Health. Pilar also has a seat on the Alberta College of Social Workers, Indigenous Council and is an active member of the local two spirit and ceremony community. Pilar is fluent in English, French and Spanish and is available to work in all three languages.
