About Mòkinàn Consulting:

Mòkinàn started as a dream of a future where people are valued simply for existing and breathing, a place where our uniqueness is celebrated and space is made for every individual's needs and capacities. The foundation for our expertise stems from over a decade of research, training and mentorships in decolonial advocacy, disability justice, liberation/anti-oppressive practice and queer and gender diversity best practices. Our collective offers educational workshops with umbrella themes of: 2SLGBTQ+ Inclusivity, Creating Accessible Spaces for Diverse Disabilities & Decolonizing Spaces: under each theme we then go over specific topics such as gender pronouns or land acknowledgements.

We also specialize in policy and document review for input on inclusive language, decolonized language and accessibility. We want to make our content applicable to you individually, within your home and your work environment, so let us know how we can best support you.

From Anishinabemowin (Anishinabe Indigenous peoples language) the word our collective chose to represent the work that we do is: mòkinàn / moo-kih-nahn (verb). Definition: to bring into existence by intellectual or creative ability. This speaks to the infinite possibility and limitless potential we have as human beings to bring into existence intentional, interdependent communities of care.
